1. Ramon Magsaysay Award 2021 awardees have been announced. Among the awardees is - 
  • Dr Firdousi Qadri of Bangladesh and 
  • Muhammad Amjad Saqib of Pakistan, as well as 
  • Philippine fisheries and community environmentalist Roberto Ballon, 
  • American citizen Steven Muncy, who works for humanitarian work and help refugees, and 
  • Indonesian WatchDoc for investigative journalism.
2. Dorje Angchuk, the chief engineer at India’s northernmost astronomical observatory, is among 11 new honorary members inducted to the International Astronomical Union (IAU).



3. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has declared an economic emergency to contain soaring inflation after a steep fall in the value of the country's currency caused a spike in food prices.
